Playing in the "basement" and Hayden practicing his part for the school play on Thursday. For those of you who don't know the lyrics to the cult classic, here you go.
Over the last week we've been pretty busy. We had some friends over for Ginger Bread House making, and despite the mess, our humble abode actually turned out pretty well. On Saturday, we went to St. Paul's Annual Breakfast with Santa at Hayfields, which Mommy was the Chair of. It brings a new meaning to the term "thankless job." It was, however, a great success and everyone seemed to enjoy themselves - even Santa - in the midst of 75 children during the height of flu and stomach virus season. Here are a few pictures from the last week. Stay tuned for the BIG 1st Birthday post as my "baby" turns 1 this week!
It has been quite a festive weekend. In fact, if we're not totally into the holiday spirit after a weekend like this, then I don't know if we'll ever be. After a wonderful and cozy dinner by the fire with great friends on Friday night at the Oregon Grille, where steve and I got engaged, we were greeted to the first snowfall of the 2009-2010 season on Saturday morning. Mommy ventured out into the snow to "talk" to Santa and lunch with some ladies at the Hillendale Holiday Shopping "extravaganza." Thankfully her team of sled dogs led her home safely. It snowed about 6 inches and we certainly didn't hesitate to break out the long johns and partake in the annual 45 minute ritual of layering, wiggling, shoving, and stuffing little bodies into 50lbs of down and Thinsulate. Kinsley looked like the little boy from "A Christmas Story" movie - "I can't put my arms down!!! Raaaaaalphieeeeee!!" We spent the evening eating pizza, baking cookies and other comfort calorie-laden foods. After a great night's sleep from a food coma, the snow is still on the ground and we are off to another holiday party this evening with the kids. What a great kickoff to the season.
We had a fabulous Thanksgiving holiday this year. The Grandparents Pittler came up from Florida and we had both of our families together for a warm and wonderful holiday. Hayden understood the concept of Turkey and a lot of food, but for some reason he kept thinking that I was setting up the house for his "birthday party." After a while, and a brief tantrum when we told him it was actually Thanksgiving, we just let him think that it was his special day. On another note, Grandma and Zaza gave Kinsley her first baby doll and she absolutely loves it! She even mimics me when I show her how to feed the baby with the plastic bottle. Its so cute. We hope you all had as great a time as we did over the Thanksgiving weekend. We're very thankful for having you all share in our lives!
We're finally coming down from our sugar high from all of the Halloween fun over the last few days. Friday, Hayden's school had their annual parade and party and the "Greaser and Pink Lady" were a hit during the parade. Friday night, we had some "adult" fun at a Halloween costume party dressed as Jon and Kate Gosselin, minus the eight kids and the mean streak. And of course we carved pumpkins and went out for some trick-or-treating on Saturday. We felt it was appropriate, with the passing of the King of Pop, and the release of his new movie, to play "Thriller" on Friday morning as a kick off to the Halloween weekend. However, we didn't know that Hayden would have dance moves that would rival Fred Astaire. I just had to post it. (The video is a little lengthy)
Happily married for over 3 years. We are so in love with our beautiful children, Hayden Pierce, born February 21, 2007, and Kinsley Taylor, born December 16, 2008. They are the light of our lives and we feel so complete. We love traveling, fitness and sports, hanging out with our family and friends, and going to our home away from home, Bethany Beach, DE. Life is wonderful and we are so blessed.
